About Kiu
Growing up, Kiu struggled with experiencing intense emotions, feeling misunderstood, and a style of communication that distanced people from him. Unhealthy relationships and depression led him to dive into spiritual and self-development practices.
A 20-year journey that incorporated yoga, nonviolent communication, mindfulness, ayahuasca ceremonies, internal family systems therapy, family constellations, and breathwork enabled him to gain deep insight and transform his communication and quality of relationship with himself and others.
In 2011, Kiu moved from the UK to Rio de Janeiro and began teaching yoga. A deep dive of 700 hours of nonviolent communication in educational spaces with Domonic Barter had such a profound effect that in 2015 he began focusing on facilitating nonviolent communication practice groups for the general public and within a program in the local favelas.
Organisations began inviting his support, and in 2017 he worked with Oi, one of the largest telecoms in Brazil, to reinvent its performance review process and train 800 leaders. The quantity of requests led him to create a consultancy company with two partners that worked to facilitate a culture of dialogue in organizations that spanned forward-thinking schools, non-profits, collaboration festivals, and cultural institutions.
His interest in how dialogue can support organizational development and dealing with complex social issues led him to study Asset Based Community Development, the Work of Peter Block, Art of Hosting, Collective Impact, and Reinventing Organizations.
Currently, he leads the Social Gastronomy Movement's Collective Impact Program, coaching teams from five countries to facilitate cross-sector collaboration toward food security and equity in food systems.

It helped us to realise, via a number of guided exercises, how to really listen and get to the bottom of a problem. The workshops enabled us as a team to develop skills and be stronger as a unit moving forward.”

Self-Empathy Guided Meditation
We often judge ourselves about things we did or did not do. These harsh thinking patterns around this can deplete our sense of self-worth, cause inner tension and leave us feeling stuck.
This exercise will guide you to listen to these thinking patterns with a quality of empathy that activates inner peace, self-acceptance, and insights that can enable future responses to the same situation that are in greater integrity with what we value.

"Dialogue starts with the willingness to challenge our own thinking, to recognize that any certainty we have is, at best, a hypothesis about the world."
